Folic acid is a B vitamin that plays an important role DNA and RNA synthesis, production of red blood cells and maintenance of the nervous system.** It also plays a biochemical role, shared with vitamin B12, in heart health.** Severe folic acid deficiency can cause anemia.** Women who consume healthful diets with adequate folate throughout their childbearing years may reduce their risk of having a child with a birth defect of the brain or spinal cord. Food sources of folic acid include meat, dark leafy greens, oranges and orange juice, beans and peas. Brewer's yeast is also a good source of folic acid and other B vitamins. Primary Uses: DNA synthesis , red blood cell formation, Cardiovascular health.** Secondary Uses: Nerve function, heart health.**
